What is the WHIS®damper / CLD?
The WHIS® damper is based on the principle of
“Constrained Layer Damping” and effectively
reduces vibrations in steel bridges. A special
viscoelastic material is clamped between the bridge
components and a thin steel plate. This material
converts the kinetic energy generated by vibrations
into heat, thereby reducing noise emissions. The
damper is attached using a self-adhesive layer
directly on the bridge, additionally secured by
weather-resistant special magnets.
- High noise reduction
- Cost-effective solution
- Long lifespan
- Barely visible
The WHIS®damper’s advantages
Easy to install
The WHIS® damper panels are attached without screws or welding.
Barely visible
Since the panels are installed underneath the bridge in RAL color, they are barely visible.
High noise reduction
The WHIS® damper can reduce noise from steel bridges by up to 9dB.
Installing and maintaining the WHIS®damper
• The WHIS® damper is delivered as a complete product.
• The steel plates are attached to the predetermined bridge
sections using the self-adhesive layer.
• Quick installation.
Where can you apply the WHIS®damper?
