In 2019, 4Silence installed 70 meters of WHIS®top on the existing noise barriers of ‚de Zuiderbrug‘ along the A73 highway in Venlo, commissioned by the Municipality of Venlo. This location, characterized by continuous traffic noise, required an innovative and space-efficient solution. WHIStop was selected for its high performance and ability to integrate seamlessly with existing structures.
70 meters of additional noise mitigation
The WHIS®top redirects sound waves rather than absorbing them. In Venlo, the elements were mounted directly on top of the existing noise barriers without the need for major structural modifications. This enabled a significant additional reduction in traffic noise, up to 5 dB, depending on frequency and positioning.
Why WHIS®top?
Space-saving: ideal for bridges and viaducts where higher barriers are not an option
Cost-efficient: no need to replace or widen existing infrastructure
Effective: proven noise reduction through diffraction
Sustainable: long lifespan, minimal maintenance
In collaboration with the Municipality of Venlo
The Municipality of Venlo was looking for an innovative way to reduce traffic noise for nearby residents without disruptive construction. The collaboration with 4Silence delivered a fast, effective solution that met both local needs and the technical requirements of Rijkswaterstaat.
